A: The insert may be worn continuously for up to 24 hours. A single insert may be worn until your next bowel movement or changed as you see fit. After one insert has been expelled or removed, you should replace it with a new insert if needed, the insert is for single use only. Only one insert may be used at a time.
Q: What are the risks if the insert is kept in my body longer than 24 hours?
A: This is a prescription device designed for use up to 24 hours. The Navina insert must be removed and changed at least once, and a bowel movement attempted, within a 24-hour period to minimize the risk of developing a bowel obstruction.
Q: Is the insert flushable?
A: Do not flush the insert nor the applicator down the toilet. Both parts should be disposed with the normal trash.
Q: What should I do if the insert does not go in?
A: If you are heavily constipated an initial clean out of the bowel must be performed so that there is no hard stool in the way. Make sure you are in a comfortable position and that your muscles are relaxed. Try to insert the device making sure the Navina insert is aligned with the anus and you are using gentle, steady pressure. Do not force the insert. If the first position you try is not successful, you may want to try a new position or consider adding additional lubricant, but you should never have to use excessive force.
Q: Can I still have normal bowel movements?
A: Yes! A regular bowel movement is an essential part of maintaining a healthy bowel. The Navina insert is designed to be easy to use, allowing for quick removal before bowel movements.
Q: Does the insert allow me to pass wind (gas)?
A: Yes, you should be able to pass wind past the insert.
